As the economic recovery remains stagnant, many businesses are looking for solutions to cut expenses and give themselves an edge over competitors. One solution to this daunting task is the involvement of the cloud in your normal business tasks. The cloud can be used to create a paperless work environment and allow more integration among workers. One such way to unite your business with the cloud is to eliminate your businesses reliance on legacy systems and switch to cloud software applications. These applications have the added advantage of being built and tested elsewhere, allowing your business to buy the most efficient and effective product on the market. So get rid of your legacy system and come to the cloud!

Cloud computing companies are on the rise as businesses look for affordable and flexible solutions to their legacy applications; the cloud enables cost savings as many providers allow scalable pricing. Your business will benefit from economies of scale and see a decrease in the cost of running all the different applications necessary to run a business. Now, a business can access an application from the cloud on-demand and as-needed. Mobility is the key to your success!

Cloud computing enables a company to diversify the applications they use without creating or overpaying for the applications in use. Simply pick and choose from the cloud computing expert developed applications that are available in the marketplace.

Cloud computing allows you immediate access to servers and applications around the world. It’s a revolutionary form of outsourcing in which your company will not have to have an expensive contract to use specialized resources created by others. It has become almost instantaneously to tap into cloud computing application platforms, like Saleforce.com, and access their multitude of applications available for every type of business need. Cloud computing has done away with the necessity of a business’s IT department to spend their invaluable time creating and testing new systems.

e3datasolutions can help your business make the switch to cloud computing by incorporating our simple and elegant cloud solutions into your daily business routine. We have dived into the cloud computing application pool and hope to create a variety of applications that will allow your business to run more efficiently and cost effectively.

President Obama has unveiled the proposed “Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights” in order to protect individuals’ information which is aggregated, stored, and analyzed by large technology companies who then sell the data to companies who then use it to better target and satisfy the needs of their consumers.

Google is one of the companies at the forefront of this argument alongside Facebook. Such companies derive a large part of their business from the gathering and mining of this data to add value and to specify individual preferences of consumers.

Google recently changed its privacy policy to state that is now collecting data and developing a profile of individual user data across all of the services that Google offers, including search history, YouTube, Google+ and the myriad of other services that the company offers.

Facebook earns the majority of its revenue from the eerily specific advertisements that populate your news feed and any other area of the site. These advertisements are so specific because they sell your personal user information to advertisers who then tailor it to your interests hoping that you will buy their product.

All of the data collection has been transformed into efficient and effective uses that arguably make the individual online experience better for most people. Your Google search results are improved through the data collected so that depending on what you search for, that is most likely what you will see. For example, if you do a lot of searching for cars and you type in “jaguar” the first thing to pop up would be the car and not the cat.

On the flipside of tailoring search queries, although it makes for a more efficient web browsing experience, the consumer is forced to view the internet through the predefined algorithms that are applied to your search; essentially censoring the internet to that only which Google wants you to see.

In tandem to the information collected is the security of that information. With so much personal information available electronically, there is the desire to steal that information for use by hackers. Also, information can be leaked by disgruntled employees by bypassing any security measures taken against outside hackers. Officials say that 600,000 times a day, Facebook stops cyber crooks from accessing accounts. This is a surprising number and will only grow with the site.

Here at e3datasolutions we believe in your privacy and will always consult you about data privacy as we respect that the content is yours and yours alone to decide what to do with. We fully protect your interest with 256bit encryption and have other means for further data obfuscation. Here at e3 we are your partners in success and will gladly and effectively assess any of your privacy concerns.

With today’s technology constantly evolving, there are countless ways that small business can utilize these resources to get an advantage over bigger corporations. Knowing how to properly use the following services can help any business get an edge over the competition.

Your mind won’t be weighed down in the cloud. If you’ve never heard of “cloud computing,” now would be a great time to explore this new and exciting option for your small business. More than just condensed water, the “cloud” is a term used to describe service software that provides users access to advanced software, data storage, web applications, computing, and etc. without requiring the user to purchase these applications. Due to its simplicity, implementing cloud services usually reduces business costs, improves efficiency, and decreases maintenance. Moreover, the cloud can be accessed from virtually anywhere, allowing employees to collaborate online, providing convenience for both clients and personnel.

Google is a wonderful thing. Not only can you use it to stay on top of new technology trends in addition to new developments concerning your business, it can also benefit your company directly. Google offers resources such as email, documents, surveys, and calendars that can help you sync with both employees and clients. These features give a platform for collaboration, allowing businesses to remain up-to-date on current projects. Best of all, most of Google’s services are free.

There’s a reason we call them smartphones. Chances are, you’re glued to your smartphone. So why not use it to benefit your business? With about 44% of all Americans owning a smartphone and rising steadily1, the mobile network is a great way to increase your company’s prominence. Not only is it a medium to connect to the aforementioned cloud network and thus boosting productivity, but having apps can be a novel way to market a product and connect with current and potential customers.

Blog about it. Blogs (like the one you’re reading now) can increase company visibility and give favorable numbers, especially if it is a subject that is current and more importantly– a subject that your business is passionate about. Keeping up with a blog (uploading pictures, posting often, etc.) can retain and attract readers who have an interest in your industry field- just make sure that the blog isn’t too “sales-pitchy”.

Viral video on YouTube. Ok, so maybe your video might not go viral. But posting videos on YouTube about your company or simple How-To video regarding your product has the possibility of introducing your business to different audiences. This in turn increases traffic and ultimately clients which can be beneficial especially for a small business.

All of these things combined, can come together to create a robust support system that is easily accessible and understood by the audience that requires it. These are all well-known tools that most people are comfortable using; increasing their comfort improves the user experience and possibly even their retention on how to resolve an issue that they were looking to settle.

Using these contemporary medium opens your content to the collective knowledge that exists around the internet. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the content that arises, but in general open sourcing information usually only adds to it.

From consulting to the cloud, to the development of applications, e3datasolutions has the capabilities of maximizing the efficiency of your small business. We have a strong history of addressing client needs and specialize in providing solutions, creating seamless transitions into the cloud. If a simple solution to a complex problem is what your business needs, e3datasolutions will work with you to make it happen!

The explosive growth of the medical field is fueling the drive and design of cloud computing applications for a plethora of different computing tasks based on the data that they generate. The expected rise in the population is part of the reason for this anticipated growth in the healthcare industry. Much of the time and efforts of care facilities will be geared towards caring for the aging baby boomers that are expected to account for 17% of the total population in 2020 and according to the US Census Bureau, the number of those over 65 is projected to grow to be over 20% by the year 2050.

With the huge influx of people expected to use the healthcare system, there comes vast data storing, processing, and managing needs with the proliferation of paper files as the industry standard moves to the cloud. There will be countless bytes of data generated in the coming decades, pushing us into the age of “big data” which are vast databases that are more cumbersome to manage. The scope of such facilities is often beyond the economic means of the hospitals that generate them, creating the need for third party IT management.

These vast data sources are going to be cloud based and managed to cut costs for hospitals that do not have the IT resources to effectively store the data. As data is generated, new and exciting ideas will spring forth to help better manage the healthcare process and improve the hospital experience for professionals and patients alike. This further pushes us to higher standards of care that were inaccessible before.

In fact, International Business Machines (IBM) is currently developing Watson, a supercomputer compilation of medical texts and data with diagnosing capabilities. A competitor to Watson, Isabel Healthcare’s software, is already helping real-life patients. Isabel’s diagnosing capabilities is based off of the data that is currently on file; it has been found to be 74% accurate when examining 50 complex cases.

This exciting technology is one way that doctors will be aided in coping with the increase in demand for the services and knowledge that they provide. This is the direction that technology is taking, one day there will be enough information available to perhaps make medical diagnoses using IT resources data repositories and super computers common. Though we at e3datasolutions do not have the resources of super computers, we employ over 70 skilled programmers, consultants, graphic designers and skilled team members who are able to find ways to improve your business.

We are currently partnered with a prominent children’s hospital, helping them meet the demands of their patients in order to improve the hospital experience and bring a high standard of care that can be applied to any child coming through their doors.

More information about Watson and diagnosing biases can be found here.

This year, 2012, we expect to see many improvements on existing technologies; making many forms of technology faster, smaller, cheaper, and more intuitive. This proliferation of technology along with the exponential growth of mobile computing will likely allow some of the most advanced technologies to influence and access some of the most remote areas of the planet.

One of the most exciting areas expected to surface this year is the birth of the latest generation of Ultrabooks, which have been created to compete with popular portable devices such as Apple’s MacBook Air and the tablets. These high-end computers will be light and portable with long battery lives. They are also expected to be lightning fast and durable with solid state drives.

This new generation is expected to be powered by Windows 8, but even more exciting than a new version of Windows is the increased reliance of these products on cloud computing and data storage. These Ultrabooks, if anything like the MacBook Air, will need extensive cloud support if they are to operate as effectively as traditional computers.

With this increase in mobility, there comes the desire to have all of your content available and have it all synced. Apple’s MacBook Air allows the synchronization but is limited by only allowing access to media purchased through their various stores. The file types Apple supports are limited and create frustration if you have other files from your personal entertainment sources.

Hopefully, in the year 2012, we will see the advent of a new cloud computing application that overcomes this obstacle by allowing the seamless integration of your files across any of the platforms you use.

Imagine being able to watch any one of the different movie files you have stored on your PC on your iPhone, Mac Book, or Android phone. It can be advanced even further by allowing the integration of the systems you use at home and your tablet.

This is the future, a seamless melding of technology with your own personal routine. Being able to generate content anywhere and editing it anywhere; taking full advantage of the easily accessible Wi-Fi and blistering fast speeds of most phone networks.

Here at e3datasolutions we work every day seeking innovation and elegant solutions using the limitless potential of cloud computing. We constantly search for ways to make your life easier, creating cutting edge solutions for either your home or business. Together we can succeed!

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a bill introduced in the US House of Representatives by Lamar Smith. The purpose of the act is “to promote prosperity, creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation by combatting the theft of US property, and for other purposes.”

This act allows the Department of Justice and copyright holders the right to seek court orders against websites that are hosting or facilitating copyright infringement. Under the provisions of the act, copyright holders may take actions such as barring advertisements of such sites, blocking them from search queries, having the sites blocked by service providers, or even preventing sites like PayPal from conducting business with them.

Those in favor of the act cite that it would protect revenues of content creators and prevent US technologies from falling into the hands of foreign competitors. This in turn will add job security for those who work for the corporations and individuals who contribute intellectual property to the US marketplace.

Those against SOPA cite that it will infringe upon free speech and forever change the cyber-scape that is the internet. It would also set the precedent for other governments to follow suit and pass similar legislation that would further hamper the free flow of information across the internet.

Now more than ever it is necessary to keep up with and follow regulations that may affect your business. With the rise in popularity of cloud computing storage for businesses it is pertinent that we know how to effectively secure the regulated the data, especially in light of new regulations. One of the most critical issues with storing data in the cloud is knowing what regulations you should follow. In order to know what regulations will affect your data stored in the cloud you have to know where the provider stores your data. Different countries and regions have their own regulations for the protection of data you may store in the cloud. Regulations, such as HIPAA, may limit your business’ ability to move completely to the cloud.

Some suggestions to make sure you are not in violation of any privacy agreements is to know where the data is being stored and to sufficiently password protect the data. Password information should not be stored in the cloud, but rather on site to limit susceptibility of violations. e3datasolutions is aware of the regulations regarding the storage of data in the cloud. We know how important it is to follow regulations and can help your business effectively and securely transition to the cloud.

Welcome to the first blog post of 2012! The year 2011 is now behind us and it is time to look forward to all things 2012. When it is impossible to find an available treadmill and the produce section is empty, you know what time of the year it is. It’s time for New Year’s resolutions! New Year’s resolutions are not limited to just fitness and health goals. It is also a time that can be taken to evaluate your business, department or position strategy.

Here at e3datasolutions, we wanted to share some of our professional resolutions with you.

Bill Cooey | Principal Owner:

“I want to eliminate our reliance on email by using cloud based storage and collaboration tools like box.net. First with company contacts and then with all customers!”

Falahyar Fatmi | Principal Owner:

“I would like to create a working environment for creative thinking, provide a platform and a business process to convert ideas into functional reality”

Ezra Gallagher | Research Analyst:

“For the New Year, I would like to expand my professional network and improve the quality of my reports. I feel that it is in e3datasolution’s best interest to create new contacts to help grow our business. By expanding my network, I can not only find potential clients for our services but also learn more about what the public would like from our Apps. Through the improved quality of my reports, I will be able to attract a broader range of customer and give e3datasolutions a competitive advantage.”

Eli Flores | Business Analyst and Development:

“To continue staying on cutting edge of available cloud-based technologies and their best practices”

Amoreth Gozo | Digital Marketing Specialist:

“This year, my goal is to provide quality service to e3datasolutions’ current and potential clients by identifying their needs and working to address them directly. It is important to have that support available to customers. Additionally, I plan to work with the marketing department to help implement novel strategies to keep client-customer relationships strong by opening the lines of communication between parties.”

Mark Williamson | Research Analyst:

“For the new year, I want to continue finding new and exciting ways to grow the company by finding innovative ways to solve complex problems that businesses encounter on a day-to-day basis. Through our work, I hope that we can create products that push innovation to its limits allowing companies to focus and improve their core services and products creating a constant cycle of innovation.”

Ashley Rabon | Digital Marketing Specialist:

“In the new year, I’d like to keep e3 content flowing! I want to nourish the relationship with current customers and gain the trust of potential customers by letting them know what e3 is up to and provide them with relevant information they can put to use. I’ll accomplish this by sending out the e-Newsletter monthly, posting blogs weekly and staying on top of e3’s social media outlets.”

While we have high hopes and good intentions of maintaining our resolutions, most of us start off strong but seem to forget about those resolutions we made at the beginning of the year. Here at e3, we have decided to “stick to our guns” and make these resolutions last.

So, how are we going to accomplish that?

First off, we have them in a blog! Writing your resolutions down in a permanent place, such as a blog, can help you remain accountable for them. Going along with the theme of accountability, tell your co-workers, family and friends of your resolutions. Ask them to keep you on the right track and request updates. Even if you don’t ask, chances are they will anyway.

Secondly, make sure your resolutions are things that can be measured or checked off. Many of us tend to make vague resolutions that prove difficult to measure. Resolutions need to be realistic and clearly attainable. If they aren’t, we won’t try to pursue them because we can’t achieve them anyway.

One last thing you can do to try to reach your goals is to re-read them. Post it on a sticky note to your computer. Set a calendar notification on the last workday of the month with your resolutions on them. Set a reminder on your phone once a month. This will make you see the resolutions that you have made, not allowing you to escape them.

No matter what your title is, we should all strive to grow in our respective field. What could you do better? Take this time during the beginning of 2012 to think about resolutions that you might have in your professional life. Make it a department or team meeting. All of us can use extra motivation!

e3datasolutions wants to help you achieve your New Year’s resolution. If you need a technology solution to help your company exceed your goals, e3datasolutions can work with you to define and design a solution that is carefully built around your needs and processes. Contact us today to discover how we can make your resolution a reality.

Onshoring is becoming a popular business trend and as U.S. stress continues, Americans seek out companies that strive to support domestic jobs. According to the World Bank’s “Doing Business” report for 2011, the United States currently ranks as the fifth best place in the world for businesses to operate. Offshoring provides significant cost savings in comparison to urban vendors, but the overhead costs of governing, communication, and productivity, lead American firms to onshore certain projects and still get high quality results for a relatively low price.

Some of the major benefits of onshoring include great quality work at a lower cost, potential government subsidies, and not having to grapple with the big time-zone gaps, or language and cultural differences that can complicate relationships. The cost of American onshoring is 40% cheaper than that in urban areas; however, it could be 15-20% more costly than offshoring. Typically, a complex project will yield more advantages if it is outsourced locally, whereas a service such as a call center should be offshored because the cost for the same service is lower.

Onshoring could boost the economy by providing talented individuals in rural areas with jobs, while companies continue to pay lower wages due to less expensive cost of living. Charges for PHP and .Net -based work costs approximately $50 an hour which is significantly cheaper than quotes in urban areas. In addition, the government’s $7 billion fund to implement broadband in rural areas will facilitate millions of Americans joining the virtual rural workforce, allowing more U.S. firms to outsource locally.

An important benefit of onshoring is that hiring a U.S.-based firm may be more politically acceptable for many organizations, and in turn more compatible with corporate values. “The Buy American” movement teams manufacturers and workers in an effort to persuade consumers to purchase products made in the United States. Even Asian auto maker, KIA, advertises as “Made in America” in order to lure more American customers in their desire to create and retain American jobs.

If a company wants to become a leader in onshoring, it must choose the location wisely. It should be first to move in, and look closely at the number and quality of local colleges: Can they provide enough graduates who have the necessary skills? Government incentives should be considered carefully; they can shorten break-even time to just a few years, but subsidies will eventually go away.

Onshoring should be one of many potential options when considering your IT needs.

Although nonprofits across the nation have different goals and beliefs, they all share one thing: their ability to advance forward is dependent upon the funds they raise. While most organizations know the importance of Customer Relationship Management (CRM), many fail to implement the system correctly, thus causing problems and losses down the road.

Capacity building is an ongoing issue that most nonprofit organizations (NPOs) face. Typically, NPOs rely on external funding such as government funds, grants from charitable foundations, or direct donations. If those funds vary drastically, or are unpredictable, then the organization may be unable to maintain its facilities, staff, or create events. Because of that, NPOs strive to establish the best fundraising methods, sustain strong relationships with past donors, and communicate effectively with the public in order to secure new funds.

More than ten thousand nonprofits from a variety of sectors are using cloud computing CRM to power their success and achieve their mission. The basic block of fundraising is knowing who the most influential members are, and when and how they have interacted with your association. With an effective CRM, organizations can keep clear records of donors and target specific materials to them for fundraising purposes. With proper Salesforce integration, contacting and managing potential donors is simple, in turn increasing online marketing opportunities.

Because NPOs are private, non-government organizations with self-governing boards, the management is accountable to the members, donors, and the general public. If an organization discloses its financial reports openly to the government and its donors, more people would be willing to work with it due to its transparency. By implementing a CRM system, the nonprofit would have a strong structure for managing its business, making reporting quick, easy, and accurate.

how do your IT costs stack up with the value received?

Any U.S. consumer who makes regular trips to the grocery store knows that prices are rising. Although according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation over the last couple of years has been kept between -2.1% and 3.6%, those low numbers feel as if they ought to be higher.

Commodities are soaring, oil prices are surging, and supermarket prices are no exception. If six dollars used to buy half a gallon of ice cream, now that same cost only covers a quart and a half. For people who do not buy the same things often, differences like these are easy to overlook because the actual price has not changed. For those regular shoppers, what is supposed to be the same bucket of ice cream has in fact shrunk by 25%. This unfortunately is true for the majority of products the U.S. consumes.

Corporations are trying to maintain the package and price the same, but what customers are beginning to notice is that their bag of chips now contains more air than chips. America’s supersize portions are slowly transforming into supersize packages with less product. Consumer reports show that instead of one pound of coffee, companies now sell three quarters for the same price, forcing the customer to pay up to 33% more for the same good.

Typically, this would be called inflation. However, according to MSNBC, officially the U.S. inflation rate on food and energy prices is zero. “In the month of June 2011, the food index rose 0.2 percent and the energy index declined 4.4 percent, the largest decline since December 2008” (Bureau of Labor Statistics). If the statistics actually showed that America has inflation, that would mean that citizens would rightfully demand raises on their salary and social security benefits.

The concept of “hidden inflation” affects the service sector of our economy in a parallel way. Whether the unit of measurement is a quart, a pound, or an hour spent on consulting, customers want to get the same product or service as they did in the past. The same holds true for IT. Are you quoted the same hourly rate, but your projects seem to take longer?

Our specialists at E3datasolutions fulfill every detail of our clients’ requests for a reasonable time and fee. Most importantly, e3datasolutions goes a long way to ensure that every dollar you spend with us brings higher productivity and growth to your firm.

We work closely with the customer to gather their exact requirements, design the proper solution, and provide continuous support. Every situation is unique and every customer has different operations, techniques and goals, but our prices and products are always consistent.
